CLOSE DOCKING TECHNIQUES FOR LARGE VESSELS
The difficulties of docking supertankers are described and electronic equipment to assist the pilot is discussed. The use of closed circuit television to display the view under the bows, of doppler sonar to show the vessels velocity relative to the bottom, and of doppler radar to show the vessels speed of approach to the dock are described. Major features of the sonar and radar equipment are given.
