DETERMINATION OF THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF ROCK IN SITU OR IN TEST BLOCKS USING A DIAMOND DRILL

A NEW METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF ROCKS IN SITU OR IN TEST BLOCKS HAS BEEN DEVELOPED BASED ON THE RELATIONSHIP OBTAINED IN DRILLING A ROCK BY A DIAMOND DRILL, WHERE THE PENETRATION RATE OF THE ROCK PER REVOLUTION IS THE BIT AT THE INSTANT OF COMMENCING DEILLING; THE DRILLING THRUST ARE CONSTANTS. THE CONSTANT IS RELATED TO THE UNIAXIAL COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF THE ROCK BY THE EQUATION, WHICH IS GIVEN. THE METHOD BEING REASONABLY RAPID, CONVENIENT, AND ACCURATE, IT OFFERS CERTAIN ADVANTAGES OVER PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED METHODS. /AUTHOR/
