A LABORATORY EXAMINATION OF THE EFFECT OF DELAYING THE COMPACTION OF SOIL-CEMENT MIXTURES

RESULTS ARE PRESENTED OF LABORATORY TESTS MADE TO EXAMINE THE EFFECT OF DELAYING THE COMPACTION OF MIXED SOIL-CEMENT. THE EFFECT HAS BEEN MEASURED BY DETERMINING THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTHS AND DRY DENSITIES OF MIXTURES COMPACTED BY A STANDARD EFFORT AFTER PERIODS OF UP TO 25 HOURS FROM COMPLETION OF MIXING. THE MAIN CAUSE OF LOSS IN STRENGTH IS SHOWN TO BE THE REDUCED DENSITY OBTAINABLE WITH A GIVEN COMPACTIVE EFFORT.
