THE COMPUTATION OF SUBSURFACE DRAINAGE CONDITIONS
A DETAILED EXPLANATION IS GIVEN OF THE FINITE DIFFERENCE METHOD AS APPLIED TO SUBSURFACE DRAINAGE PROBLEMS. THE TREATMENT IS GENERALIZED TO INCLUDE THE SIMULTANEOUS OCCURRENCE OF BOTH SATURATED AND UNSATURATED REGIONS IN THE SOIL MASS. THE TECHNIQUE IS APPLIED TO A ROAD DRAINAGE PROBLEM AND SOLVED BY A COMPUTER PROGRAM SPECIFICALLY WRITTEN FOR THIS PURPOSE. OTHER DRAINAGE PROBLEMS COULD ALSO BE SOLVED BY THE SAME TECHNIQUE, PROVIDED SOIL PERMEABILITIES AND VOLUMETRIC WATER CONTENTS ARE KNOWN. /AUTHOR/
