BIGGEST SWEDISH-BUILT SHIP FOR CHEVRON
The 212,010-dwt John A. McCone was designed and dimensioned by Kockums on the basis of frame work and finite element calculations including a major strength analysis embracing the entire hull structure. The McCone has been instrumented extensively for the measuring of actual hull stresses at sea to verify the previous theoretical calculations. Details are given for hull structure, cargo handling, deck equipment, machinery, instrumentation, accommodations, and the navigation bridge.
