WAITING TIME AT JUNCTIONS WITHOUT TRAFFIC SIGNALS /IN/ FRENCH/

AN ATTEMPT IS MADE TO DEFINE A SIMPLE METHOD OF OBTAINING THE AVERAGE WAITING TIME OF VEHICLES APPROACHING A RURAL JUNCTION FROM THE NON-PRIORITY ROAD. THE FIRST PART DEALS WITH THE THEORETICAL LIMIT-CAPACITY OF THE JUNCTION, OR IN OTHER WORDS, WITH THE SATURATION FLOW OF THE NON-PRIORITY ROAD FOR A GIVEN FLOW ON THE PRIORITY ROAD AND FOR A GIVEN "CRITICAL GAP". THE SECOND PART IS CONCERNED WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NOMOGRAPHS FOR CALCULATING THE AVERAGE WAITING TIME AS A FUNCTION OF THE FLOWS AND FOR DIFFERENT VALUES OF THE "CRITICAL GAP". THESE NOMOGRAPHS ARE BASED ON GENERAL RESULTS FROM THE QUEUEING THEORY. /TRRL/
