CALCULATION OF VEHICLE WAITING TIME AT A SINGLE INTERSECTION /IN FRENCH/
SIMPLE AND GENERAL FORMULAE ARE PRESENTED FOR CALCULATING THE WAITING TIME OF VEHICLES CROSSING A SINGLE INTERSECTION. CALCULATION PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE I.R.T. THREE CASES ARE STUDIED: WAITING TIME (1) AT AN INTERSECTION WITHOUT TRAFFIC SIGNALS, (2) AT AN INTERSECTION WITH FIXED- CYCLE TRAFFIC SIGNALS, AND (3) AT AN INTERSECTION WITH VEHICLE-ACTUATED TRAFFIC SIGNALS. IN THE CASE OF AN INTERSECTION WITHOUT TRAFFIC SIGNALS, THE AUTHOR USES THE GAVER FORMULA TO CALCULATE THE WAITING TIME OF A SINGLE VEHICLE ON THE SECONDARY ROAD. THE TANNER MODEL IS USED TO CALCULATE THE WAITING TIME OF A VEHICLE IN A QUEUE. FOR AN INTERSECTION WITH FIXED-CYCLE TRAFFIC SIGNALS, THE NEWELL APPROXIMATION FORMULA IS SELECTED; FOR AN INTERSECTION WITH VEHICLE-ACTUATED SIGNALS, THE DARROCH-NEWELL MODEL IS UTILIZED. /TRRL/
