INFLUENCE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON THE PULSE RATE OF DRIVERS
TWO GROUPS OF TEST SUBJECTS, CONSISTING OF 33 DRIVERS OF VW CARS HAVING AN AUTOMATIC GEAR CHANGE AND 45 DRIVERS OF VW CARS HAVING CONVENTIONAL GEAR BOXES, WERE TESTED TO DETERMINE THEIR PULSE RATES ON VARIOUS TYPES OF ROAD AND IN A SPECIFIC TRAFFIC SITUATION. THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN PULSE RATE AND THIS IS ATTRIBUTED TO THE FACT THAT THE DRIVERS WERE EXPERIENCED. TESTS WITH GROUPS OF LEARNERS OF VARIOUS AGES ARE PROPOSED SO THAT COMPARATIVE DATA CAN BE OBTAINED.
