ROLE OF NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING IN THE COST OF QUALITY
After noting that the majority of standards and codes of practice which list acceptance criteria for weld defects do so on the basis of radiography, a comprehensive examination of all present standards and codes of practice as far as the choice of NDT method is concerned is presented. The discussion deals with timing of NDT, acceptance standards, the activities of the new British Standards committee concerned with preparing agreed acceptance levels for weld quality, monitoring workmanship, and reliability of NDT.
