EXPERIMENTAL MODIFICATION OF CLASS C WELDING SCHOOL CURRICULA: TASK INVENTORY AND TRAINING MATERIALS
The officer in charge of the Class C Welding School through the Service School Command, San Diego, requested the Navy Training Research Laboratory to carry out research and development aimed at experimental modification of welding school curriculum and at reduction of trainee failure in the courses. Companion studies in the following areas have been reported; Class C Welding School attrition rates, certificaiton test projects, and the Naval enlisted classification codes for welders. The present paper reports a task inventory for welding on nonnuclear surface vessels, a translation of that inventory into a set of training exercises, and a derivation of subordinate skills and prerequisite knowledges for training and instruction.
