A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF MOTOR VEHICLE LICENSE PLATES

A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF MOTOR VEHICLE LICENSE PLATES WAS CONDUCTED WITH THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES: (1) TO DETERMINE THE FUNCTIONS OF LICENSE PLATES AND THE RELATIVE IMPORTANCE OF THESE FUNCTIONS, (2) TO DETERMINE WHAT INFORMATION SHOULD BE DISPLAYED ON A LICENSE PLATE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF EACH ITEM OF INFORMATION, (3) TO DESIGN THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT LICENSE PLATE. TO DETERMINE THE FUNCTIONS OF A LICENSE PLATE AND THEIR RELATIVE IMPORTANCE, 475 QUESTIONNAIRES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO PERSONS CONCERNED WITH VEHICLE LICENSING. ANALYSIS OF THE QUESTIONNAIRE RETURNS PROVIDED INFORMATION WHEREBY THE OTHER TWO OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY COULD BE ANALYZED. THIS, TOGETHER WITH AN EXTENSIVE LITERATURE SEARCH, WAS SUPPLEMENTED BY ADDITIONAL FIELD AND LABORATORY TESTS. THIS REPORT PROVIDES THE NECESSARY FACTUAL INFORMATION FOR THE DESIGN OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE, EFFICIENT, AND ECONOMICAL LICENSE PLATE. /AUTHOR/
