HERE'S ARGUMENT FOR 4-WHEEL DISC-BRAKES

THE ADVANTAGES ARE: (1) BALANCE OF FRONT TO REAR BRAKE TORQUES IS EASIER TO ACHIEVE IF THE BRAKES REMAIN IN THE SAME RATIO OF EFFECTIVENESS, FRONT-TO-REAR, AS THEY HEAT IN USE. (2) MAXIMUM STABILITY IN A BRAKE SYSTEM REQUIRES THE MINIMUM CHANGE IN TORQUE FROM CHANGES IN COEFFICIENT OF FRICTION AT THE LINING. (3) FADE FROM HEAT OR WATER IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS IN DISCS. (4) LEAKING BRAKE FLUID, WHICH CAUSES A BRAKE TO GRAB, ACCUMULATES IN A DRUM BUT USUALLY MISSES A ROTOR. (5) METERING VALUES ARE NOT NEEDED TO COORDINATE APPLICATION OF FRONT DISCS. (6) LINING LIFE FOR THE ALL DISC SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE AS MUCH AS 50% GRETER THAN FOR THE DISC/DRUM SYSTEM IT REPLACED. (7) PEDAL GRADATION OF LINEARITY OF RESPONSE IS SUPERIOR IN A PURE DISC SYSTEM BECAUSE OF THE ABSENCE OF SHOE RETURN SPRING EFFECT. /SAE/
