INVESTIGATION OF TIRE WEAR

A SERIES OF MEASUREMENTS OF TREAD RUBBER LOSS FROM AUTOMOBILE TIRES OPERATED ON SOME OF THE STANDARD ROADS IN THE VICINITY OF PULLMAN, WASHINGTON, WERE CONDUCTED. FOUR CARS, FORD, DODGE, HUPTT AND NASH WERE DRIVEN ON CRUSHED BASALT MACADAM, CONCRETE, GRAVEL AND BITULITHIC. THE TREAD RUBBER LOSS WAS MEASURED IN POUNDS PER 1000 MILES, DRIVING SPEED 30 MPH. TABLES PRESENT TIRE TEST DATA RESULTS.
