A BASIS FOR ESTIMATING COSTS OF FIXED ILLUMINATION FOR DEPRESSED URBAN FREEWAYS. THE COST ESTIMATES GIVEN IN TABLES 1 TO 4 REPRESENT THE COMBINED JUDGEMENT OF TWO LARGE EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS AND ARE BASED ON FOUR COMPARABLE PROJECTS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COUNTRY. TABLES 6 TO 8 GIVE COST DATA FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF THE NEW JERSEY STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. FOUR METHODS OF FINANCING ARE DISCUSSED. /AUTHOR/
