Workplace Health and Safety in the road transport industry: a sleeping giant

The increasing costs associated with road crashes and other vehicle-related health and safety issues points to a need to manage fleet safety more effectively. This paper examines the coverage of road transport and occupational health and safety law in relation to fleet safety management to demonstrate the nexus between them. The paper then explores how a risk management approach to fleet management that is integrated with the workplace's health and safety management system can be adopted to more effectively and efficiently manage fleet safety.
