Conceptual design of a traffic database for the Direccion General de Trafico: a case study

The Dirección General de Tráfico is currently involved in a re-engineering process of their internal information system: CIT (Traffic Information Collector). Traffic data is the CIT core, but CIT also handles other types of information. Data re-engineering is a crucial part of the overall process, as future applications and services will depend on the information that CIT will keep and the evolving capacity of the data model. This paper presents the conceptual data model defined for the new CIT system and the adopted approach in the design process.
