A European network to promote ITS knowledge and skills
One of the constraints being faced in achieving wide scale application of ITS is the lack of necessary knowledge and skills among transport professionals. There are shortcomings in Europe not only in the capacities required for the design, development and deployment of ITS applications, but also in the awareness on the part of decision-makers of the potential and implications of ITS. Among the reasons for this situation is the fact that investment over recent decades in developing ITS technologies have not been matched by a similar efforts to develop human resources. This led to training and education for ITS being identified by the ROSETTA project as a key area for investigation.
