From advanced toll services to telematics mass market
Driven by the idea of road tolling without interfering traffic flow, Electronic Fee Collection (EFC) becomes more and more common in Europe. Regarding such EFC systems it is important to look beyond the mere purpose of just raising revenues for road operators: To battle congestion and pollution road pricing as a progressive form of tolling can help to manage traffic more efficiently. And to increase the overall acceptance of EFC systems, they can be used as a platform for Telematics services and thus boost the telematics industry by creating a mass market.
