BOEING DESIGNS LIGHT MASS TRANSIT VEHICLE

THIS LIGHT RAIL VEHICLE (LRV) CAN BE USED MOST EFFECTIVELY AT AN INTERMEDIATE MASS TRANSIT VOLUME OF 8000 TO 24000 PASSENGERS PER HOUR. THE LRV IS ABLE TO OPERATE IN MIXED TRAFFIC ON CITY STREETS, THANKS TO ITS OVERHEAD POWER, WHICH ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR A THIRD RAIL, AND ITS LOW LOW FLOOR LEVEL. THE VEHICLE CAN ALSO BE SUPPLIED WITH HIGH-LOW STEPS, WHICH CAN ACCOMMODATE BOTH STREET AND PLATFORM OPERATIONS. DESIGN FEATURES INCLUDING: CAR BODY, WHICH HAS ARTICULATION JOINTS; TRUCKS; PROPULSION SYSTEM; BRAKES; ACCELERATION AND BRAKING; WHEELS; CONVERTIBLE STEPS; PASSENGER COMPARTMENTS; AND DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT, ARE DISCUSSED WITH DIAGRAMS.
