DISAGGREGATE, BEHAVIORAL TRAVEL DEMAND MODELS: EMPIRICAL TESTS OF THREE HPYTHOSES
THIS PAPER REPORTS ON THE RESULTS OF TESTS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE FOR THE REJECTION OR ACCEPTANCE OF SOME HYPOTHESES CONCERNING THE OPERATIONAL CONSTRUCTION OF DISAGGREGATE, BEHAVIORAL TRAVEL DEMAND MODELS. THE FIRST HYPOTHESIS IS CONCERNED WITH THE MOST APPROPRIATE STATISTICAL TECHNIQUE FOR BUILDING NON-LINEAR MODELS OF THIS TYPE. THE SECOND HYPOTHESIS CONCERNS THE MATHEMATICAL EXPRESSION OF RELATIVE SYSTEM CHARACTERISTICS-RATIOS, LOGARITHMS OF RATIOS, OR DIFFERENCES. THE THIRD HYPOTHESIS RELATES TO THE METHOD OF INCLUSION OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC CHARACTERISTICS DESCRIBING THE TRAVELER.
