DESCRIPTION AND COMPARISON OF TIRE PERFORMANCE IN SAND IN TERMS OF ENERGY PARAMETERS
SOME TYPICAL ASPECTS OF THE ROLLING MOTION OF PNEUMATIC- TIRED WHEELS IN DRY SAND ARE DESCRIBED IN QUALITATIVE TERMS. THE POSITIVE SLIP RANGE, BETWEEN THE SELF-PROPELLED CONDITION AND 100 PERCENT SLIP, IS CONSIDERED. IN THIS RANGE, THREE PHASES OF THE PHENOMENON ARE DISTINGUISHED ACCORDING TO THE RATE OF VARIATION OF TORQUE AND PULL. THE PARAMETERS USED FOR THE DESCRIPTION ARE ENERGY COEFFICIENTS: TORQUE, PULL, AND DISSIPATED ENERGY COEFFICIENTS. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS ARE GIVEN TO ILLUSTRATE THIS APPROACH, /NTIS/
