Identifying, prioritizing and treating hazardous location at Federal Route FT023 (Muar-Segamat)

The main purpose of this research is to identify and treating a hazardous location in Johor at Federal Route FT023 (Muar - Segamat). From the data collected, an analysis was carried out to identify the location of the black spot area by using the average point weightage method. Site investigations and inventories at the specific location were then carried out to identify the factors that contribute/cause the accidents. The methods used for site investigation were traffic study and drive inspection. For the traffic study the information about speed, type of vehicle and numbers of vehicle were recorded using automatic recording equipment, "Trax Mite". For the drive inspection a location sketch was produced for clearer information about the environment at the site and a complete collision diagram of all accidents was produced. From the in-depth site investigation and diagnosis, it was shown that there are several main factors that cause the road accidents at the site. The main causes are design problems, traffic conflicts and human factors. Finally, an appropriate treatment was proposed for the location based on the analysis that has been done.
