Traffic control for short term and mobile works
Since 2000 new and updated documentation has been issued at National and State levels in areas of OH&S and Traffic Control at Worksites that impact on the type of work undertaken by the roadmarking industry in the maintenance and renewal of various forms of lane marking and painted symbols. Individually each of these documents can run to hundreds of pages. In addition to the actual placement of cones, signs and other advisory devices there are now complex safety requirements. These include risk assessment, roadworks speed zones and the qualifications of those who can prepare, authorise and audit Traffic Control Plans. This paper addresses issues arising from current regulations inasmuch as they affect short term and mobile works.
