ESDAL: Electronic Service Delivery for Abnormal Loads
ESDAL (Electronic Service Delivery for Abnormal Loads) is a United Kingdom Highways Agency initiative providing management and route planning for abnormal loads and vehicles on a national level. (An abnormal load or vehicle is one that exceeds the normal weights or dimensions for use on a public road.) ESDAL provides a centralised system with Web access for all parties involved in the movement of abnormal loads; the haulier, structure and road owners, police forces and the Highways Agency. ESDAL is government funded and free to use by registered users involved in the movement of abnormal loads.
