USER'S MANUAL FOR THE SIMULATION - TRAFFIC SIMULATION FOR THE DESIGN OF UNIFORM SERVICE ROADS IN MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN, VOL. IV

A DETAILED SIMULATION OF MULTILANE HIGHWAY FLOW HAS BEEN DEVELOPED, AND APPLIED TO FLOWS OF A MIXTURE OF COMMERCIAL AND PASSENGER VEHICLES ON GRADES AND LEVEL TERRAIN. OVERALL PROGRAM ORGANIZATION AND INFORMATION FOR USERS WISHING TO RUN IT ON A CONTROL DATA CORPORATION 6400 UNDER THE SCOPE 3.1.6 OPERATING SYSTEM IS PRESENTED. SUGGESTED PROCEDURES FOR RUNNING IT ON OTHER SYSTEMS ARE ALSO INCLUDED. EXCEPT FOR ONE SHORT ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE ROUTINE, THE ENTIRE PROGRAM IS WRITTEN IN FORTRAN IV. TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE, THE PROGRAM WAS WRITTEN TO BE MACHINE INDEPENDENT. COMPUTER WORK SIZE MUST BE 32 BITS OR MORE. ON THE 6400 IT RUNS IN ABOUT 32,000 WORDS IN ADDITION TO THE SYSTEM. ON THE IBM 360 IT IS EXPECTED TO REQUIRE ABOUT 170 K BYTES UNLESS IT IS OVERLAID SO EXTENSIVELY AS TO SERIOUSLY DEGRADE RUNNING TIME. THE SIMULATION PROGRAM HAS THREE PARTS. THEY ARE PROGRAM I, CONSISTING OF ABOUT 1,400 SOURCE CARDS; PROGRAM II, CONSISTING OF ABOUT 6,000 SOURCE CARDS; AND PROGRAM III, CONSISTING OF THREE PARTS OF ABOUT 1,200 SOURCE CARDS EACH. /AUTHOR/
