Guide to proficiency testing Australia

The purpose of this document is to provide participants in Proficiency Testing Australia's programs with an overview of how the various types of proficiency testing programs are conducted and an explanation of how laboratory performance is evaluated. The document does not attempt to cover each step in the proficiency testing process. These are covered in Proficiency Testing Australia's internal procedures which are in compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC Guide 431 and ILAC-G138. The main body of this document contains general information about Proficiency Testing Australia's programs and is intended for all users of this document. The appendices contain: a glossary of terms (A); information on the evaluation procedures used for testing programs (B); and details of the evaluation of the results for calibration programs (C).
