Nation building: rail, road, education and research and business

In October 2008 the Australian government commenced an economic security strategy to strengthen the Australian economy. In November it launched a $300 million regional and local community infrastructure program. This will help boost local economic development by building local community infrastructure in all of Australia's 565 local council areas and supporting jobs in communities around the country.
