Detailing and construction of concrete masonry buildings

The Australian Standard dealing with the design and construction of masonry structures, AS 3700, was revised and published in 1988. Despite the best efforts of the code writers to make standards user friendly, there will always exist a gap between the conflicting demands of precise and conside design rules of the standard and the comprehensive details of final design calculations and construction drawings. This gap is best filled by manuals contraining safe load chartrs, design aids and standard details, produced by industry associations for mass circulation to the design fraternity. This detailing manual is a companion document to the design manual, providing information on the uses, properties and specification of concrete masonry.
