THIRD PROGRESS REPORT ON TRIP ENDS GENERATION RESEARCH COUNTS
THE THIRD YEAR OF A CONTINUING PROJECT ON TRIP GENERATION RESEARCH WAS OCCUPIED WITH INVESTIGATIONS AT 15 SITES ILLUSTRATIVE OF SIX TYPES OF LAND USE (A MEDICAL OFFICE, RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISIONS, COLLEGES, AIRPORTS, A COUNTY CIVIC CENTER, AND A BOWLING ALLEY). THE PROJECT SEEKS TO DEVELOP TRIP GENERATION FACTORS FOR A NUMBER OF COMMON LAND USES TO FORECAST FUTURE TRAFFIC IN VARIOUS SUBREGIONAL STUDIES IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. THE FILES ACCUMULATED IN THIS RESEARCH INCLUDE INDIVIDUAL DATA FOR EACH STUDY SITE, POTENTIAL COUNT SITES BY COUNTY, PARTICULAR LAND USES BY COUNTY, AND PEAK HOUR AND TRUCK TRAFFIC. SITE SELECTION EMPLOYS THREE CRITERIA: IT MUST BE REASONABLY COMPARABLE WITH SIMILAR SITES, THERE MUST BE VERY LITTLE THROUGH TRAFFIC, AND THERE MUST BE ADEQUATE OFF-STREET PARKING USED ONLY BE PERSONS AT THE SITE.
