Between the lines : celebrating the Epping to Chatswood rail link

This book offers a brief account of one of the largest infrastructure projects undertaken in Australia. Significant engineering challenges were overcome during the construction of the new line : two tunnel boring machines were used simultaneously to construct twin tunnels; the new station caverns required the largest free span excavation ever undertaken in Hawkesbury sandstone; technologically advanced track structures have been used to reduce vibration of the track and the regenerated noise at the surface and at Epping and Chatswood the team worked within the confines of a live rail environment.
