Travel behaviour in the Arabian Emirates: findings from household travel surveys and comparison to western patterns
Household interview surveys on travel behaviour were conducted in Qatar 2006 and Dubai 2007 to generate a data basis for transport models. This paper describes the methodology of the two surveys and highlights some specific characteristics of travel behaviour research in the Middle East. The article furthermore presents the key results of the surveys and provides a comparison to corresponding figures from Germany and the United States.
