Engineering road safety for an ageing people
This paper will provide an overview of road safety in Singapore and relates it to international practices. It outlines the key road safety strategy and highlights important initiatives taken to enhance road safety for road users particularly for elderly people. It is a challenge for transport authorities to balance traffic efficiency and make roads safer for all, particularly the elderly people. Besides international best practices like Black Spot Program and Road Safety Audits that pick up vulnerabilities for improvements, the paper also showcases various measures to improve road safety for the elderly.
