HUD AWARDS GRANT TO CINCINNATI TO DEVELOP EQUIPMENT FOR STREETS
AN URBAN RENEWAL DEMONSTRATION GRANT WAS AWARDED TO CINCINNATI TO DEVELOP A PROTOTYPE SYSTEM OF EQUIPMENT FOR LIGHTING, TRAFFIC CONTROL, EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS, AND REFUSE COLLECTION. THE DEMONSTRATION WILL BE AN EXTENSION OF CINCINNATI'S FOUNTAIN SQUARE URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT. THE STREET FURNITURE DESIGN TECHNIQUES OF CINCINNATI WILL BE EXPANDED TO SERVE AS A GUIDE TO OTHER COMMUNITIES. THE STUDY WILL BE BROADENED TO INCORPORATE METHODS OF SIGNIFICANCE TO CITIES THROUGHOUT THE NATION.
