RAMP CONTROL ON HOLLYWOOD BLVD. AND SUNSET BLVD. ON-RAMPS ONE YEAR'S EXPERIENCE

CURRENT TRAFFIC OPERATIONS ARE PRESENTED ON A SECTION OF THE NORTHBOUND HOLLYWOOD FREEWAY AS A RESULT OF CONTROLS BEING EXERCISED AT TWO ENTRANCE RAMPS DURING THE AFTERNOON RUSH PERIOD. ONE OF THE ON-RAMPS IS PHYSICALLY CLOSED TO TRAFFIC DURING THIS PERIOD AND A PERMANENT METERING SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSTALLED ON THE OTHER RAMP. THIS CONTROL SYSTEM HAS BEEN EFFECTIVE IN REDUCING CONGESTION, REDUCING TRAVEL TIMES (ON THE FREEWAY), AND INCREASING THE CAPACITY OF THE STUDY SECTION. /BPR/
