SIGOP' TRAFFIC SIGNAL OPTIMIZATION PROGRAM

A MANUAL FOR THE USERS OF SIGOP SIGNAL TIMING OPTIMIZATION COMPUTER PROGRAM HAS BEEN PREPARED. THE PROGRAM USES AS INPUTS BASIC TRAFFIC DATA SUCH AS' VOLUMES, DESIRED TRAVEL TIME, NUMBER OF LANES, SIGNAL PHASING, AND A NUMBER OF FACTORS FOR EXPRESSING SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS SUCH AS TURNING MOVEMENTS, PLATOON COHERENCE ETC. FOR EACH INPUT OR OPTIMIZATION PERIOD, THE PROGRAM COMPUTES UP TO TEN CYCLES, SPLITS AND OFFSETS FOR A GRID NETWORK OF A MAXIMUM OF 150 INTERSECTIONS. PRINTOUT INCLUDES TABULATION OF THESE CONTROL PARAMETERS AS WELL AS TIME-SPACE DIAGRAMS AND RELATIVE EFFICIENCY MEASUREMENTS IN TERMS OF DELAY, NUMBER OF STOPS AND USER COST. SELECTION OF OPTIMUM CYCLES IS MADE BY COMPARISON OF EFFICIENCY CRITERIA. THE PROGRAM IS WRITTEN IN FORTRAN IV SUITABLE FOR IBM 7094. /BPR/
