POWER STEERING CARS IN ACCIDENTS

POSSIBLE DIFFEENCES BETWEEN POWER STEERING CARS AND STANDARD STEERING CARS IN INJURY-PRODUCING ACCIDENTS ARE EXAMINED. FINDINGS ARE ONLY SPECULATIVE, ALTHOUGH STATISICALLY SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES ARE NOTED IN THE FREQUENCY WITH WHICH POWER STEERING CARS ARE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS AS OPPOSED TO STANDARD STEERING CARS. IT IS ASSUMED THAT OTHER FACTORS, NOT ACCOUNTED FOR IN PRESENT ACIR DATA, ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIFFERENCES NOTED.
