DRIVER EDUCATION TASK ANALYSIS: THE DEVELOPMENT OF INSTRUMENTAL OBJECTIVES

THE STUDY WAS UNDERTAKEN TO DEVELOP A SET OF PERFORMANCE- ORIENTED DRIVER EDUCATION OBJECTIVES AND AN EVALUATION INSTRUMENT BY WHICH THE ATTAINMENT OF THESE OBJECTIVES COULD BE ASSESSED. IN THE FIRST PHASE OF THE STUDY, A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF THE DRIVER'S TASK WAS CONDUCTED IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY CRITICAL DRIVING BEHAVIORS FROM WHICH INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES COULD BE DERIVED. THAT PHASE OF THE STUDY HAS BEEN DESCRIBED IN TWO EARLIER VOLUMES. THIS REPORT WILL DESCRIBE THE INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES AND EVALUATION INSTRUMENT DEVELOPED FROM THE RESULTS OF THE TASK ANALYSIS. THE OBJECTIVES AND EVALUATION INSTRUMENT APPEAR IN A COMPANION REPORT.
