MULTIDISCIPLINARY ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION. FINAL REPORT FOR THE PERIOD 13 JUNE 1969 TO 31 JUNE 1970

THIS REPORT OF MULTIDISCIPLINARY ACCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS CONTAINS SUMMARIES OF 30 CASE STUDIES AND INTERIM RESULTS WHICH HAVE BEEN OBSERVED OR IDENTIFIED TO DATE IN THIS ON-GOING STUDY. THE PROGRAM OBJECTIVES AND PROCEDURES ARE DISCUSSED, AND TEAM ORGANIZATION IS PRESENTED; A LIST OF EQUIPMENT HAS ALSO BEEN PREPARED. OVERALL RESULTS ARE DISCUSSED WITH EMPHASIS ON PROJECT ADMINISTRATION AND GENERAL ACCIDENT DATA, VEHICULAR FACTORS, ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS, AND HUMAN FACTORS. COMMENTS ARE MADE REGARDING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CURRENT STANDARDS AND MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION. FINALLY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS ARE PRESENTED CONCERNING DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAMS, POOR RISK DRIVERS, USE OF ALCOHOL, COMMON ACCIDENT CAUSES, SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION, MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION, AND ROADSIDE OBSTRUCTIONS. /AUTHOR/
