SICK AND HANDICAPPED DRIVERS

THIS REPORT PRESENTS A SUMMARY OF THE BOOK ENTITLED "SICK AND HANDICAPPED DRIVERS" IN WHICH RESULTS ARE GIVEN OF STUDIES OF ACUTE DISEASES, CHRONIC DISEASES, PHYSICAL DISABILITIES, AND OLD AGE AS CAUSES OF ACCIDENTS. NO DIFFERENCE WAS FOUND BETWEEN THE PATTERN OF OFFENCES AMONG SICK AND HANDICAPPED PERSONS AND A CONTROL GROUP. HOWEVER, SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES WERE FOUND FOR ROAD USERS OVER 58 YEARS OF AGE, WHO WERE COMPARED WITH TWO LOWER AGE GROUPS DURING THE FIRST TWO YEARS AND DURING THE NEXT FOUR YEARS AFTER PASSING THE DRIVING TEST. /TRRL/
