Research Without Borders: The Growing Role of International Cooperation and Collaboration at the Transportation Research Board

The international presence in Transportation Research Board (TRB) activities and meetings, and TRB's partnerships and collaborations with similar research organizations around the world, result from the recognition that shared research and analysis can help address global, common, and local transportation problems productively and effectively. This article looks at the decades of tradition in TRB's outreach and expanding contacts, as well as its multinational perspectives. TRB's new millennium initiatives are examined, including its pursuit and development of international strategic partnerships.
