PROPOSED WARRANTS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT INTERSECTIONS

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROPOSED WARRANTS ARE TO ENSURE THAT SIGNALS ARE ONLY INSTALLED WHEN AND WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED AND ARE MOST LIKELY TO BENEFIT ROAD USERS. THE WARRANTS PROPOSED TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE MINIMUM VEHICULAR VOLUME, ACCIDENTS, VEHICLE DELAY, MINIMUM PEDESTRIAN/VEHICULAR VOLUME, COORDINATED MOVEMENT OF TRAFFIC, EFFECTS OF OTHER TRAFFIC CONTROLS WITHIN 1000 FEET OF THE INTERSECTION, AND THE USE OF ALL RED INTERVALS IN PERIODS OF NO TRAFFIC DEMAND. /TRRL/
