GROUTING OF RAILWAY EMBANKMENTS

A new method of stabilizing fissures in clay formations was developed by British Railways. It involves the injection of a neat cement water grout into the clay under pressure. This method differ s from that known as track grouting inasmuch as the grout is introduced much deeper below track level from 15 to 17 ft. and at a relatively higher pressure. Cost per linear foot is about 8 pounds.
