Comparison of Essential Air Service Program to Alternative Coach Bus Service - Keeping Rural Communities Connected
The cost and environmental impact of current subsidized air service provided to rural communities under the Essential Air Service (EAS) program is compared in this report to an alternative method of connecting these rural communities to the nationwide air transport system. The use of scheduled inter-city coach bus service between these rural communities and nearby regional hub airports is the alternative transport mode which is analyzed here.
