A DESCRIPTION IS PRESENTED OF A BATTERY SYSTEM IN WHICH A SEPARATE SMALL BATTERY IS PROVIDED FOR ACCELERATION AND THE MAIN BATTERY IS ISOLATED FROM BRIEF PEAK CURRENT DEMANDS WHICH OCCUR WHEN ELECTRIC VEHICLE ACCELERATE FROM STAND-STILL TO OPERATING SPEEDS.
