CASE HISTORY DATA COLLECTED BETWEEN MAY 1, 1970 AND JANUARY 31, 1971 IS PRESENTED. CASE ELEMENTS WERE CATEGORIZED INTO HUMAN, ENVIRONMENT, AND VEHICLE RELATED FACTORS AND CLASSIFIED INTO PRECRACH, AT-CRASH, AND POSTCRASH PHASES. RECOMMENDATIONS, BASED ON COMPILATION OF QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE CAUSE AND EFFECT FACTORS, ARE DISCUSSED, INCLUDING USE OF ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUGS. FAMILY SITUATION, EDUCATION, AND COMMUNITY STANDING AND RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DRIVER. HYPOTHETICAL FORECASTING OF SOCIAL HOUR TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS IS BRIEFLY DISCUSSED.
