SAFETY SPECIALIST MANPOWER. MANPOWER RESOURCES
THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE PERSONS WHO MAY BE DRAWN UPON TO FILL STATE HIGHWAY SAFETY SPECIALIST JOBS IS ESTIMATED. THE MANPOWER POOL IS DIVIDED INTO THREE SKILL LEVELS: (1) HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES, (2) PERSONS WITH ONE TO THREE YEARS OF COLLEGE, AND (3) COLLEGE GRADUATES. ESTIMATES OF THE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE 21 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER WHO HAVE OR WILL HAVE ATTAINED THESE SKILL LEVELS ARE PROVIDED BY YEAR FOR THE PERIOD 1968 TO 1977. ONE GIVES THE LOCAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THE STATE (OR NATION) WITH THAT SKILL LEVEL; THE OTHER GIVES THE ACTUAL NUMBER OUT OF THE TOTAL WHICH CAN BE EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE FOR EMPLOYMENT BY STATE GOVERNMENTS. IN ADDITION, THE STATE AND NATIONAL MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS THAT ARE IDENTIFIED IN VOLUME I HAVE BEEN GROUPED BY HIGH SCHOOL SKILL LEVEL AND COLLEGE SKILL LEVEL CATEGORIES, AND ARE PRESENTED FOR COMPARISON WITH THE RESOURCE ESTIMATES.
