Hazard Assessment on Railway Dangerous Goods Station

An approach is presented to evaluate the risk probability of the railway dangerous goods station by adopting the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and a new multi-level index system in the railway dangerous goods station is established. Starting with the classification of “two class of hazards”, dangerous goods comprehensive hazard factor has been chosen to characterize flammability, explosivity and toxicity so as to accumulate the dangerous goods integrated hazard index of railway dangerous goods station by converting different dangerous goods hazard to the same scales. It has chosen the indices that are characterized of the railway dangerous goods station and the weight of each index is determined by AHP so as to establish an index system featured with the railway dangerous goods station. Finally, according to the defined safety level of the system and the set pair analysis will enable us to predict the development trends of the safety status in the system. The new approach here recommended is not only suitable for the hazard assessment, but also provides the gist to find the potential hazards that are likely to lead to dangerous accidents for the managers and departments concerned to take measures beforehand, and carry on safety management by setting up a relevant standard for the corresponding departments facing similar problems.
