Highway Curve Speed Precaution System Based on VII
In view of the high traffic accident rate on the highway curves, a precaution system based on Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII) system was proposed in order to reduce traffic accident rate on highway curve. By analyzing the system function, physical and logical framework of the system was designed. The maximum safe speed was calculated utilizing the parameters of road curvature, vehicle dynamics and the obstacle information in front of the subject vehicle. Furthermore, a risk prediction function was introduced to judge the vehicle safety state when vehicle enters into the curve and the warning information was provided to driver according to warning level. The simulation results confirm the validity of the warning algorithm of the system.
