FIRE AND EXPLOSION PREVENTION IN SHIPS ENGINE ROOMS. DETECTION AND FIRE FIGHTING
The changes in machinery techniques and the variations in operational methods which have attracted wide acceptance together with the effect these items have had on security are outlined, showing where they have introduced new hazards or eradicated old ones. By looking at these factors together with the advanced techniques available in fire and explosion prevention, in the detection of the onset of dangerous conditions, and in the new methods of fire extinction, measures for maintaining an acceptable balance between risk and protection are formulated.
