UNIQUE BOW DOCK SAVES TIME AND MONEY
This simple device for the specialized purpose of installing and maintaining bow-mounted sonar domes is basically a floating cofferdam, a unit of sufficient size to enclose only the sonar prow area of the hull and ensure a watertight seal around this portion. The dock is a shell made up of four wing ballast tanks, two on each side, with a total capacity of 1600 tons. Together with a forward bulkhead and a hinged stern gate, a center well is formed. This is the work area. A single, self-contained pump serves these areas. Details are given of its construction and use.
